Overview

Gran Casalá is a branding and product design project for a new luxury tequila, developed in collaboration with Break. This comprehensive project involved creating a distinctive brand identity from the ground up, including naming, trademark research, visual identity development, and packaging design. The goal was to establish a premium tequila brand that would stand out in a competitive market and appeal to discerning consumers.

About

Break approached me to develop a complete brand identity for a new luxury tequila. My role encompassed multiple facets of brand creation, starting with naming the product. I conducted extensive research to ensure the chosen name, Gran Casalá, was unique and could be trademarked,. Following this, I crafted a cohesive brand identity and visual direction that would resonate with the luxury market.

A key component of this project was the packaging design, particularly the glass bottle, which needed to embody the brand's premium positioning. I created designs that balanced aesthetic appeal with practicality, ensuring they could be manufactured to specification. This involved direct communication with manufacturers to oversee the production process, ensuring the final product met the high standards set by the brand vision.

Research

The project started with comprehensive research into the context of Tequila, Jalisco, and the legends surrounding the origin of the agave spirit. I provided 80+ name proposals, all available to trademark, and with deep ties to Tequila.

Naming

"Casalá" is the common name of a natural wildflower that thrives in the land of Tequila, therefore, this flower served as the main chatalist for the brand visuals, brand voice, and direction.

The word "Gran" was added to the name, to balance it phonetically, as well as add an adjetive that describes the greatness of the product itself.
