Overview
Much remains to be known about burnout in many work areas, such as design, where little research has been done. This project aims to provide an exploratory examination of burnout and its relationship with contemporary design practice.
About
I sent a survey informed by the CBI that covered diverse work-related and non-work-related factors influencing burnout in the design field. Then, I conducted in-depth reflective interviews with seven selected participants to gain a deeper understanding of the unique causes of burnout in their work. As a final step, I interviewed three industry experts to gather their experiences and recommendations, allowing the broader design community to benefit from their expertise.
This project aims to investigate and highlight the reasons behind the burnout experienced by design professionals. It also serves as an open call for further investigation, as the field of design is vast and offers a multitude of opportunities to study the emotional and health effects of design practice on individuals.
